AVIATION LEAD AUDITOR COURSE – INTRODUCTION

Aviation quality and safety auditors help ensure that a product, service or process works to the standard it was designed to meet; they help keep it consistent, exact, fit-for-purpose, and safe, and they search for ways to help clients improve that product, service or process.

Auditors embrace the responsibility of checking that what the company produces is worthy of the company’s brand. This course is for people who enjoy analysis, logically and methodically comparing what is done with what should have been done.

It takes patience and tenacity to be a lead auditor, but also the desire to fix things so they stay fixed. You will be asked to role-play, to interview your classmates and be interviewed by them. You will be asked to defend your position and write your conclusions clearly and without ambiguity.

WHAT ARE THE COURSE OBJECTIVES?

This course will teach you how to lead an audit team. Given an audit scope, criteria and objective, you are asked to plan, participate in and lead an audit team through the entire cycle of an audit, in a variety of aviation workplace scenarios, using defined strategies and techniques as described in ISO 19011.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will learn how to plan an audit, lead an audit team and write an audit report.

  • Quality and safety auditors learn to manage people, in particular, customers and their expectations;
  • How to understand complex processes and systems quickly and to look for flaws that others miss;
  • The process of continuous improvement, about risk management and how poor performance can cripple an organisation—even an industry.
  • Auditors learn to think and communicate clearly, to lead with diplomacy and to keep plans on track.
  • Auditors learn to measure those things that matter the most and to articulate their findings and translate reports into action.
