AVIATION INTERNAL AUDITOR COURSE – INTRODUCTION
Aviation internal auditors help ensure that a product, service or process works to the standard it was designed to meet; they help keep it consistent, exact, fit-for-purpose, and safe, and they search for ways to help their organisation to improve that product, service or process.
Aviation internal auditors embrace the responsibility of checking that what the company produces is worthy of the company’s brand. This course is for people who enjoy analysis, logically and methodically comparing what is done with what should have been done.
It takes patience and tenacity to be an aviation internal auditor, but also the desire to fix things so they stay fixed. You will be asked to role-play, to interview your classmates and be interviewed by them. You will be asked to defend your position and write your conclusions clearly and without ambiguity.
WHAT ARE THE COURSE OBJECTIVES?
Our Aviation Internal Auditor course will teach you how to:
- Develop an audit program
- Plan an internal audit and involve the right people
- Identify audit’s regulatory requirements and conduct an audit in accordance with these requirements
- Evaluate a corrective action plan
- Conduct a follow up
- Report on an audit
- Close an audit.
Given an audit scope, criteria and objective, you are asked to plan and participate in an audit through the entire cycle of an audit, in a variety of aviation workplace scenarios, using defined strategies and techniques as described in ISO 19011.

Q: Is this course relevant to aviation auditing?
A: Yes, the course is directly related to aviation auditing: internal, second party and third party audits.
Q: Who are the teachers?
A: Your teacher will be an experienced aviation auditor with over 20 years of international aviation auditing experience. All of our teachers are current serving operational auditors with the Institute’s Technical Cooperation Unit.
Q: What scenarios do you use in the lessons?
We use many different scenarios from industry: airlines, MRO, government and so forth.
Q: Can I do on-the-job training?
A: You will practice many aspects of auditing many times during the course where your supervisor is a current aerospace auditor. You will get the benefits of OJT during the course.
But, if you want to do additional OJT with live audits in the filed, this can be arranged. Please ask your supervisor.
Q: Can I do an IOSA, IS-BAO, or USOAP audit after this course?
A: This is an aviation internal auditor course. It teaches you the fundamentals of how to audit, how to prepare, gather evidence and write a report. The course is relevant to ANY audit program.
However, if you want to audit with a specific audit scheme, like IOSA, you will first need to show them your auditor qualification (ASSET Aviation Institute Aviation Internal Auditor Certificate for example) and then complete their internal program that teaches you how to use their computer systems and checklists and so forth.
